POWER 90: In-Home Boot Camp – The Program

The program comes complete with workout routines, a meal plan, and online support.  This combination promotes motivation and success.  Online support can give you the motivation you need to continue even when it feels as if you just can’t go another day.

Workouts

The workouts are broken down into levels.  Levels 1 and 2 basically prepare you for levels 3 and 4.  All exercises are simple, yet can be difficult to actually perform at first.  However, they can all be mastered eventually.

The goal is to go at your own pace.  This is something Tony Horton stresses in all of his workouts.  He also stresses that form is more important than reps.  Performing a large number of reps of improper form is not as effective as performing less reps of proper form.   Make sure you get the technique down first.  If the DVD goes too fast, simply hit the pause button.   The workouts include:

  • Sculpt Circuit 1-2 (29 minutes) – Less intense moves for toning, firming, and strengthening.
  • Sweat Cardio 1-2 (36 minutes) – Less intense routine including cardio, Pilates, and kickboxing.
  • Sculpt Circuit 3-4 (38 minutes) – More intense moves for toning, firming, and strengthening.
  • Sweat Cardio 3-4 (42 minutes) – More intense routine including cardio, Pilates, and kickboxing.
  • Ab Ripper 100 & 200 (4 and 6 minutes) – Targets your abs.

The idea is to switch between cardio and circuit for six days and include the Ab Ripper in as often as you can.    It is important to take one day off to allow your muscles to repair themselves.   The program is 90 days in total; therefore, it is designed for you to follow the first two levels for 45 days and the second two levels the final 45 days.  This could vary depending on your personal achievements.

The important thing is to ensure you have the form down and can perform them at the reps stated before moving on to the final levels.  Levels 3 and 4 are a little longer and are faster paced.  The routines are similar to the first two levels except they are a little more advanced.

Nutrition Plan

The program comes with two meal plans, Fat Burner Meal Plan and Six Day Fat Burner Express.  The Fat Burner Meal Plan is a step-by-step guide designed to help you burn fat quickly.  The good news for most people is that you won’t have to completely eliminate your favorite foods.  It shows you how to enjoy your food in moderation.  This is designed as a long-term meal plan.

The Six Day Fat Burner is for rapid weight loss.  It is not intended to be followed long-term.  It is designed to help you lose ten pounds and ten inches in one week.  Supplements are highly recommended in this plan.

The program is led by a highly motivational fitness expert whose main goal is to show you exactly what you need to do and then leaves it up to you to decide if you are ready to move on to the next set of exercises.  In fact, Tony Horton actually encourages you to hit the “pause” button if you do not feel you have mastered a move or have done as many reps as you need.

The Sectional Progression training technique will give you a full body workout that can dramatically transform your body.  This program only requires the resistance band that is provided with the system.   You do not need a lot of room to complete the program.

Bottom Line

While the program is highly effective, the routines can be monotonous and/or boring.  If you are looking for a fun and exciting dance type routine, this system is not for you.  If you are looking for a simple, yet challenging routine, this system could be just what you need to transform your body.
